How eWay Corp Helped RCoN Achieve Full Accessibility Compliance Alongside a Client-Driven Website Redesign

Higher Education / Web Development /
A premier, fully accredited nursing research college based in Kansas City, the institution brings over 115 years of excellence in nursing education. It offers a 12-month accelerated BSN program for career changers, traditional BSN pathways, and operates from a state-of-the-art 78,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with advanced simulation labs.
RCoN partnered with Stamats and eWay Corp with a clear mandate from leadership: a full website redesign. The college had already decided to rebuild its digital presence to address scalability, content management limitations, and student recruitment goals. Accessibility compliance was a critical requirement within that broader initiative, not an afterthought.
This is an important distinction. The redesign was driven by the client’s own strategic and operational needs. Accessibility was one of several non-negotiable requirements they brought to the table.
Problem Statement
The existing website did not meet modern accessibility standards, lacked modular content management, and was difficult to maintain and scale. Because a full rebuild was already planned and required by the institution, the team was able to implement WCAG 2.2 AA compliance from the ground up, baked into every component from day one.
Requirements
The client required a custom WordPress website built from approved Figma designs, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility compliance, responsive design across all devices, reusable Gutenberg and ACF-based content blocks, CRM-integrated iframe forms, SEO readiness, analytics integration, and a scalable CMS that allowed non-technical staff to manage content efficiently.
Project Scope
- Full end-to-end custom WordPress website development built from approved Figma designs
- Custom theme architecture designed for long-term scalability and non-technical content management
- Development of 24 reusable Gutenberg and ACF-based content blocks
- WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility compliance implementation across all pages and components
- Responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- CRM integration via iframe forms for student inquiry and lead capture
- SEO configuration and analytics setup including Google Tag Manager and GA4
- Quality assurance testing, stakeholder coordination, staff training, and deployment support
Implemented Solutions
- Developed a custom WordPress theme using Bootstrap 5 and Advanced Custom Fields Pro
- Created 24 reusable Gutenberg blocks including hero banners, carousels, statistics, testimonials, accordions, events, and CTA blocks
- Implemented full WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility compliance with semantic HTML, ARIA labels, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support
- Integrated CRM-based iframe forms, Google Tag Manager, GA4, and Yoast SEO
- Ensured responsive design and scalable architecture using CSS variables and modular components.
Services Provided
End-to-end WordPress development including environment setup, CMS configuration, custom theme development, Gutenberg block development, accessibility implementation, responsive design, SEO and analytics configuration, quality assurance testing, stakeholder coordination, training, and deployment support.
Project Results
Successfully delivered a fully accessible, scalable, and responsive WordPress website aligned with RCoN’s brand and recruitment goals. The website provides improved usability, faster content management, and enhanced digital engagement capabilities.
By achieving full WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, RCoN also significantly reduced its legal exposure.
Education institutions are among the most frequently targeted sectors in ADA litigation. Statistics on ADA Lawsuits mention that the out-of-court settlements for web accessibility lawsuits average $30,000, while court judgments average $85,000 with defense legal fees of $30,000 to $175,000 on top, regardless of outcome. For Title II entities specifically, a first violation can now result in a fine of $115,231, rising to $230,464 for repeat offenses.
Proactive compliance eliminated that risk entirely before the April 24, 2026, deadline.
